 I also write novels under the pseudonyms Mason Cross and Alex Knight. They're thrillers, and although they all contain running, it's more in a Mission: Impossible way than a Chariots of Fire way.

Run time : 33:20 Distance covered : 3.5 miles (5.63km) Soundtrack : Art of the Score podcast  Conditions : sunny and warm A tale of two very different parks on this run. I started out from the big Tesco Extra in Farme Cross, combining daily exercise with weekly shop. From the Tesco car park, it's a short distance to the first park, Cuningar Loop Woodland Park . This is one of the newest parks on the list, having been established as one of 13 Commonwealth Woods as part of the legacy of the 2014 Games. The site is on a meander in the Clyde (which I'd never thought of as a noun before, but of course it is). A long curve that I've traversed on the opposite bank by bicycle before. The twistiness of the river in this section adds about three miles from the route from Cambuslang into the city centre, compared with using surface roads. The land is the site of one of the city's old reservoirs, when Glasgow got its drinking water mainly from the Clyde. It'

Victoria Park

Run time : 35:14 Distance covered : 3.83m (6.16km) Soundtrack : New Yorker Radio Hour podcast Conditions : biblical flood The first thing to say about this run is that it was wet .  Really wet. It started out in heavy rain and got worse. I don't think I've ever run in rain as hard as that.  It was my first single-park run for a while. A lot of the parks are small enough that I've grouped them together on single 5k(ish) runs, but there are still a few big enough to complete the whole run in one park, and this one stretches out for a comfortable fifty acres.  Victoria Park is one of the parks I was more familiar with. I used to play basketball on the courts in what I remember as glorious long, hot summers in the 90s. George V, Greenbank, Auldhouse, Newlands, Mansewood High

Run time : 01:03:24 Distance covered : 6.67 miles (10.73km) Soundtrack : New Yorker Radio Hour , 13 Minutes to the Moon Podcasts Conditions : borderline hot An accidental 10k, because I got a little lost. Actually, it's the longest I have ever run, as far as I know. This project is really helping me up my distance, because it means I'm not really thinking about the exercise, I'm thinking about exploring. I started out in King George V Park (confusingly there's also a newer sign calling it Regents Park), which is one of those out-of-the-way and forgotten urban parks, but with a nice balance of open spaces and tree-lined paths. I left George V and there was a fairly lengthy run east and north along Thornliebank Road to the small but perfectly formed Greenbank Park , then across the road to the adjacent Auldhouse Park . These two were so close together that they almost felt like one park. Both small, but in decent shape. Nice spots
